Meet Michelle and Reid

Hey there! Welcome to Captured by a Nguyen!

We are Michelle and Reid… a young couple who have refined the art of affordable travel that blends city living with outdoor adventure and exploration.

When it comes to travel, we see things a little different. Michelle is the foodie between the two of us, and is most at home wandering city streets and enjoying the cultural side of a destination. On the other hand, Reid would much rather be lost in nature, in the water or in the mountains.

So our ideal trip isn’t exactly the same.

We have learned how to combine these two worlds when planning our travels so we both get a little of what we want, and this blog is our effort to share those lessons with you. We also focus on ways to save money and maximize time, because like us you probably don’t have endless vacation days or thousands to spend on hotels and fancy dining. You don’t need much to have an amazing experience, so don’t let that hold you back.

Michelle will usually plan the city legs, while Red will take lead on some of the more off-the-beaten-path adventures. But this doesn’t mean we always travel together. Sometimes, what we want is just too different. In that case, we bring friends or just go on alone and meet new people along the way.

Our blog includes only places we have visited ourselves and we are always transparent about which destinations or activities are worth your time, and equally important, which are not. If we disagree, we will tell you that too and let you know why so you can make up your own mind about whether it will be a good fit.
